Self-drivers from Johannesburg use well-maintained motorways: N1 to Modimolle, then R33 via Vaalwater to East Gate. Total distance 270 km, approx. 2.5 hours. Cash Rands recommended for tolls and fuel as not all international cards are accepted. Watch for game on the road between Modimolle and the reserve, especially after dark; daylight travel is strongly recommended. Private vehicles are not allowed inside the reserve. Secure parking is provided at the entrance gates. East Gate recommended (11 km dirt road, suitable for most vehicles). Main Gate has fully tarred road but requires special pickup at extra cost. Guests sign in at East Gate as Inzalo Safari Lodge, Site 36. Staff meet at the secure parking area and transfer guests to the lodge in game-viewing vehicle. The lodge can also be reached by 45-minute flight from Johannesburg into one of the reserve’s two airstrips; reservations team can arrange road transfers or chartered flights.
