Makongo Hills Lodge offers affordable accommodation in a homestead on a 15,000-hectare malaria-free private game reserve in the Mkuze Valley Wilderness, Northern Zululand.

Akkommodasie

Five homestead rooms and rondavels each feature king-sized beds or two singles and en-suite bathrooms. Most have private decks, some with views of the Amaqongo Hills. The Ndlovu Rondavel is a family room with a day bed. Interconnecting rooms are available. All rooms include Wi-Fi and tea and coffee facilities.

Fasiliteite

Facilities include the Lapa for braais and drinks around the fire, the Pool Deck with a swimming pool and valley views, and the Hide for escorted bird viewing of over 260 species at a waterhole. The homestead lounge opens onto lawns with wildlife sightings of wildebeest, warthog and zebra.

Ligging & Omgewing

The 15,000-hectare malaria-free private game reserve in the Mkuze Valley Wilderness, Northern Zululand, lies across the Mkuze River on historic Zulu battlegrounds. Makongo Hills overlooks the Maqongqo hilltops, site of the 1840 Battle of Maqongqo between Dingane and Mpande. Habitats include acacia woodland, riverine sand forest, grasslands and savannah.
