Wes-rand, meaning 'West Rand' in Afrikaans, refers to the western region of Gauteng province, historically shaped by gold mining and now home to several towns including Krugersdorp, Randfontein, and Roodepoort. The area sits approximately 30 kilometres west of Johannesburg and offers visitors access to nature reserves, historical mining sites, and the Magaliesberg mountain range.
