Location & Surroundings

Sandton is an upmarket area within the Johannesburg metropolitan area in Gauteng. Sandton has become a large financial and business centre in Gauteng and is home to the Johannesburg Stock Exchange and the head offices of many large companies. Twenty years ago, Sandton, which lies north of Johannesburg, was just an open piece of highveld. It was then mostly estate owners and horse riding areas.
The area has much to offer visitors and attracts many visitors throughout the year with its vast range of shopping and things to do. One of the most popular attractions in Sandton is Sandton City which is one of the largest shopping centres in Africa. It has almost 300 retailers and a wide range of restaurants as well as a movie theatre. Nelson Mandela Square is located just next to Sandton city and has a 6-metre bronze statue of the countrys former president Nelson Mandela.
Sandton is centrally located and has access to major highways as well as being home to a Gautrain station.
