Barefoot at Six is a four-bedroom holiday home in the heart of Langebaan, built for people who want to switch off completely. No scrimping on space, no hunting for basics. Everything you need is already here.

Sleep:
Four bedrooms sleep 8 guests comfortably. Three rooms have queen-sized beds. The fourth has two three-quarter beds, ideal for kids or sharing. Three bathrooms, including one with a soaking tub, mean no morning queues.

Meet and eat:
The open-plan kitchen, dining, and lounge area is where the holiday actually happens. Cook on the gas stove, let the dishwasher handle the cleanup, and start the morning with the dedicated coffee and tea station. An air fryer is on hand for quick meals between beach trips.

Unwind:
Stream your favourite shows on TV, stay connected with high-speed Wi-Fi, or do nothing at all beside the plunge pool. When the sun goes down, light the outdoor fireplace and settle in around the braai.

The shoreline is a short walk away (1-2 minutes). Langebaan Lagoon, the water sports, the restaurants, all of it, very near you.

Location & Surroundings

Langebaan is a relaxed coastal town on the West Coast of South Africa, just over 100 km from Cape Town along the R27. Set beside the striking Langebaan Lagoon, it is known for its white sandy beaches, clear shallow water, and easy holiday atmosphere. The lagoon is one of the area's main attractions and forms part of the wider landscape of the West Coast National Park, which offers bird hides, picnic areas, rock pools, wildlife viewing and beautiful lagoon settings such as Kraalbaai. The park records more than 250 bird species each year, which helps explain why the area is especially popular with birdwatchers and nature lovers.

Langebaan is especially popular with guests who enjoy the outdoors. The town is well known for water sports, including kite-surfing, windsurfing, kayaking, yachting and fishing, and its beaches and open water make it a favourite for both weekend breaks and longer stays. During flower season, usually in August and September, the surrounding region becomes even more attractive as the West Coast National Park is known for its spring wildflowers.

Known as the ornithological capital of South Africa, Langebaan boasts the world's largest oyster shell deposits. A trip to the West Coast National Park is essential for anyone wanting to witness the region's remarkable diversity of flora and fauna.

Guests staying in Langebaan also have easy access to some of the West Coast?s most interesting day trips. The West Coast Fossil Park, near Langebaan, offers a chance to explore fossils from around five million years ago, including animals such as sabre-tooth cats, bears and short-necked giraffes. !Khwa ttu, on the R27, offers San-guided heritage experiences, trails and a museum. A little further north, Paternoster and the Cape Columbine Nature Reserve are well known for ocean views, sunsets, walks and the historic lighthouse.

Langebaan works well as both a restful beach destination and a base for exploring the wider West Coast. You can spend your days on the lagoon, in the national park, or visiting nearby heritage and nature sites, then return to the calm and comfort of The Cove.
