Situated high on the eastern escarpment of the Steenkampsberg Mountain Range in the Highlands Meander region of Mpumalanga, Dullstroom-Emnotweni is one of the highest and coldest towns in South Africa, perched at about 2 100 m above sea level. The name Emnotweni, meaning Place of Prosperity, was added more recently to this historic village known for its charming 19th and 20th-century architecture and peaceful countryside atmosphere.

Often referred to as South Africa's Scottish Highlands, the town offers crisp mountain air, misty hills and lush grasslands, creating a tranquil retreat for visitors. Dullstroom is world-renowned for trout fly-fishing, with pristine dams and streams attracting anglers from around the world.
