The Retreat at Groenfontein is pet-friendly Victorian farmhouse accommodation in the 560ha Groenfontein Valley Conservancy, bordering the Swartberg Nature Reserve near Calitzdorp.

Accommodation

Two suites and two garden rooms with private terraces and mountain views sit away from the house, plus four en-suite bedrooms in the main house with French doors to a patio. Lounge and dining room each have a fireplace. Yellow-wood and Oregon pine interiors, wide verandah.

Facilities

Dinner, bed and breakfast with full liquor licence and regional wines. Solar power with generator backup. DVD in the main lounge. Ice, cold drinks, tea and coffee on request. Ceiling fans in the garden rooms. Small swimming pool and dams for swimming and birdwatching. Pet friendly.

Location & Surroundings

In the 560ha Groenfontein Valley Conservancy bordering the Swartberg Nature Reserve, about 14km from Calitzdorp via a dirt mountain track, near Oudtshoorn and Route 62. About 1.5 hrs from George Airport. Nel’s River crosses the property. Cango Caves lie 48km east.
