Mossel Bay (Afrikaans: Mosselbaai) is a coastal town located along South Africa's scenic Garden Route in the Western Cape Province. Home to around 170,000 residents, it's situated roughly midway between Cape Town and Gqeberha—about 400 km from each.

Historically reliant on farming, fishing, and its small commercial harbour, Mossel Bay's economy was significantly boosted by the 1969 discovery of offshore natural gas, which led to the establishment of a PetroSA gas-to-liquids refinery. Today, tourism also plays a major role in the town's economy.

The town is known for attractions like the family-friendly Santos Beach, the historic Cape St. Blaize Lighthouse with panoramic views, and the Bartolomeu Dias Museum Complex, which features maritime exhibits, a shell museum, and botanical gardens.
