!Kharuhase Lodge and Distillery is located in the heart of southern Namibia, set within an open rural landscape of vineyards, orchards, farmland, and untouched natural terrain. The property offers a quiet base for travellers looking to explore the region or simply slow down and enjoy the setting.

The lodge features standalone chalets positioned to overlook the surrounding farmland and cultivated fields. The chalets feature a bedroom furnished with either two twin beds or a queen bed. Selected chalets can accommodate up to two children on child-only mattresses, available on advance request and subject to limited availability. All chalets have an en-suite bathroom with shower, toilet, and basin, and are equipped for self-catering with standard kitchenette facilities.

!Kharuhase offers 4 campsites. It has a private bathroom with a shower. There is a grassy patch of lawn, electricity, warm water, lighting, and just 300 m from the communal restaurant and pool. Includes limited braai equipment.

Guests can make use of the on-site restaurant, which serves a set meal for breakfast and dinner, as well as a full-day menu. A swimming pool is available, with open views across the surrounding countryside. Wi-Fi is only available in public areas such as the restaurant, lounge and reception area.

The distillery forms part of the lodge experience, with gin tasting tours offered on-site. Additional activities include guided sunset tours and visits to nearby German monuments and historic gravestones, reflecting the area's heritage.

Hosea Kutako International Airport is approximately 272 km from the property, making !Kharuhase Lodge and Distillery an ideal stop for travellers exploring southern Namibia by road.

Location & Surroundings

Stampriet is a small agricultural settlement in southern Namibia, located along the Auob River in the Hardap Region. The area is defined by artesian groundwater, which supports irrigated farmland, orchards, and palm groves in contrast to the surrounding semi-arid Kalahari landscape. Stampriet serves as a practical stopover for travellers moving between Windhoek, Mariental, the Kalahari, and the southern regions of the country.

The village has a limited but functional range of services, including fuel, basic shops, accommodation, and farming infrastructure. Its history is closely linked to early German settlement and agricultural development, with remnants such as old buildings and monuments.

The surrounding landscape consists of flat plains, dry riverbeds, and red Kalahari dunes, offering opportunities for short walks, birdwatching, and photography. Several lodges and guest farms near Stampriet provide guided activities such as nature drives, sunset tours, and visits to local farms.

Its location makes it a suitable base for exploring the southern Kalahari and Hardap Region, or for a quiet overnight stop on longer road journeys.
