Kransfontein is a historic estate established in 1833 in Stilbaai offering self-catering accommodation in cottages and houses on a working olive estate and stud farm.

Accommodation

Five houses: Fynbos, Muffets, Milkwood, Uitsig and the Boat House provide self-catering accommodation with views across the Goukou river to Riethuiskraal stud farm. Writer’s Cottage is a renovated couples retreat with private swimming pool. Boathouse has lounge with fireplace and kitchenette with fridge, oven, stove and microwave.

Facilities

On-site facilities include a deli and tasting room selling olive oils, riverside picnic and croquet venue, rock pool braai area exclusive to guests, amphitheatre, hiking paths, direct river access with boats, river boat trips, stud farm tours, libraries, Netflix and stoep views. A daily continental picnic breakfast basket is included.

Location & Surroundings

Riethuiskraal Stud Farm is 15 km from Stilbaai. Nearby: Lappiesbaai Blue Flag beach, Blombos 14 km pristine beach, whale watching lookout point June to October, rock pool marine life and historic vis-vywers tours, Inverroche Gin Distillery tastings, Kasselshoop cheese factory, Boer War monument and 4x4 or biking routes to Riversdale.

Skrywershuis / Writer's Cottage

The Writer's cottage is located on the stud farm side of the Goukou river, is isolated and peaceful. It is located in the middle of a recently planted olive grove, with a view of paddocks, broodmares and foals. The cottage has direct access to the river.
