Location & Surroundings

Located south of Venda on the main route between Louis Trichardt and the Kruger National Park is Thohoyandou, which means "head of the elephant" in Venda and was the capital of the autonomous nation.

The district's commercial, administrative, and legislative hub is now the largely black neighbourhood, which is a flurry of activity with fruit markets, street sellers, a vibrant environment, and a sizable student body attending the University of Venda. Lush flora, coffee and tea plantations, acres of subtropical fruit, tobacco, and corn fields, and tidy little rural settlements dot the landscape.
