About

Oudrif is a fully catered, off-grid eco-lodge on the banks of the Doring River in the Northern Cederberg, providing accommodation in 5 straw bale cottages for a maximum of 10 guests at one time.

Accommodation

Five straw bale cottages, each sleeping two guests, are built using a 200-year-old building method. Each cottage has one or two beds, an en-suite shower and toilet, a sitting area, and a veranda. Fans are provided for summer and gas heaters for winter. Rooms are non-smoking.

Facilities

The property runs entirely on solar power, with water pumped from the perennial river. Rates include breakfast, lunch, dinner, drinks, and a morning guided walk to sites of interest. A central boma serves as the communal dining area. The property has an organic garden and a library.

The Doring River offers paddling, swimming, fishing, and sunbathing on secluded beaches. The area contains San rock art and Stone Age artefacts. Winter rains bring what is described as the largest outdoor flower display in the world. The lodge is 50km of dirt road from the closest town.
