Amakhala Game Reserve offers malaria-free Big 5 safari accommodation across 11 owner-managed 3–5 star lodges and tented camps on about 9,000 hectares in the Eastern Cape.

Accommodation

Restored country houses, safari lodges, and tented camps range from 3- to 5-star. Options include family-friendly rooms and suites, luxury safari tents, and exclusive-use venues such as Woodbury Manor with four bedrooms. Many offer waterhole views and thatched or tented suites.

Day and night game drives with professional rangers. Facilities across lodges include swimming pools, plunge pools, spa facilities, dining and lounge areas, outdoor showers, and air conditioning or heating. Day safaris, walking trails, Woodbury horse trails, and weddings are available.

Location & Surroundings

This private malaria-free Big 5 reserve is in the Greater Addo and Frontier Country area of the Eastern Cape, about a 50-minute drive north-east of Port Elizabeth/Gqeberha airport. Access is via the N2 towards Grahamstown/Makhanda. Visits to nearby Addo Elephant National Park can be arranged.
