Location & Surroundings
Yzerfontein is a charming coastal town on South Africa's West Coast, just 80 kilometres north of Cape Town. It's a peaceful escape known for its stunning 16 Mile Beach, a vast stretch of sand perfect for walks, sunbathing, and whale watching in season. The calm ocean waters are great for swimming, kayaking, and fishing. The town's harbour is a lively spot where you can get fresh fish, especially during crayfish season. In spring, the unique fynbos vegetation around the town bursts into a beautiful display of wildflowers.
There are many attractions nearby to explore. The West Coast National Park, with its famous Langebaan Lagoon, is a short drive away and is a haven for birdwatchers. The park is also spectacular in late winter and spring when it's carpeted in wildflowers. For a change of scenery, visit the quaint fishing village of Paternoster, known for its whitewashed homes and delicious seafood.
